Edward Maxwell Sr.
Edward Maxwell Sr. was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He currently serves as the Minister for the Suitland Road Church of Christ in Suitland, Maryland and has labored with the congregation for the past 31 years. Edward has had a strong love for God and a desire to serve Him from childhood and be has been preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ for over forty years.
Edward currently serves as the Dean of Academics and Instructor at the Northeast Baltimore Bible Institute & College in Baltimore County, Maryland. He has served in the public school system as Teacher, Counselor, and Administrator. In addition to 28 years in public and private education, he has been preaching the Gospel and serving in the ministry for over 38 years. Brother Maxwell served as the 2011 Washington, D.C. Program Director for the National Crusade for Christ. Edward has held gospel meetings throughout the country and has spoken at numerous lectureships. He has designed and conducted numerous workshops throughout the country in such subjects as; Christian Parenting, Bible School Curriculum Writing, Bible School Staff Development, Church Leadership Development, Congregational Stewardship, and Anger Management & Conflict Resolution. Edward has trained preachers and church leaders who now serve in leadership all over the country.
Edward attended Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas after graduating from Casady Preparatory School. While a student at Baker University, be served as the Associate Minister of the Baldwin Church of Christ in Baldwin, Kansas. He graduated in 1977 from Baker University with a Bachelors Degree in Science. He moved to Kansas City, Kansas and taught at Central Jr. High School and served as Assistant Minister at the Roswell Church of Christ. Edward’s additional academic accomplishments include Wichita State Graduate School of Behavioral Psychology; he received a scholarship to Harding University School of Biblical Studies (Major in Ministry and Family Counseling), University of Maryland Graduate School of Biology (Bio-genetics & Bio-chemistry) while teaching in Prince Georges County, MD, Bowie State Graduate School of Education Administration, and Regent University Graduate School where he received a Masters in Education and was awarded top student of the graduating class in Education. He has used the wisdom of God while serving 28 years in the field of education. He has been the recipient of the Prince Georges County “Teacher of The Year” award for his ability to turn “at risk” students into honor roll students and successful college students. He helped design a Peer Mediation/Conflict Resolution program installed in school systems all over the country, and is currently being used in Prince George’s County.
He is no longer working in the educational field but has turned all his focus and energy into his labor of love at the Suitland Road church of Christ, where he serves as Minister and Evangelist. He has served as the Minister of Suitland Road Church of Christ (formerly Metropolitan COC) since February 1987. He works with a conviction that the saints of God can work together as one if those who lead allow Jesus to lead them.
Edward is married to Jacqueline, his wife of over 40 years. They have two sons; Edward L. Maxwell Jr. and Clifton J. Maxwell.
